Skill Builders Independent Living is for teens and young adults between the ages of sixteen and twenty-one years of age. The young men and women are transitioning from a foster care program to an independent living arrangement designed to support them in achieving competency in daily living tasks. The objective of the independent living arrangement is to provide, in addition to housing, opportunities for youth to develop skills that will move them towards self-sufficiency.
Upon completion of the program, it is expected that the youth will have mastered primary daily living skills such as grocery shopping, meal planning, cooking, cleaning, laundry and hygiene. Prior to discharge from the program, each participant will have to demonstrate the ability to manage their skills of self-care.
Our goal is to provide a nurturing environment where participants can grow and reach their full potential through opportunities and real life experiences.
